Community Involvement
We have many members involved in several wider Naples community volunteer activities. Below are several volunteer groups that have been within our community for many years.
Baby BasicsVCC volunteers have helped to distribute thirteen million diapers to 1800 Collier County babies, whose families would otherwise struggle to make ends meet. VCC volunteers annually host two fundraisers, Dining for Diapers and a golf tournament, at VCC each year. They also assist the planning of Naples-wide community events. Several VCC members are the leaders and supporters that make Baby Basics successful. For more information, go to the Baby Basics Website, babybasicscollier.org or contact Jean Ann Lynch ([email protected]).
Relay for LifeVCC supports the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life of Greater Collier County to support the fight against cancer. Each year VCC volunteers organize a Soup Supper and a Luminaria Ceremony to financially support the research and patient services offered by ACS. Since 2006, Vanderbilt Country Club has donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to Relay For Life.
Shy Wolf SanctuaryTo date, Shy Wolf has rescued over 1,260 animals and provided valuable educational experiences to tens of thousands of human visitors from around the world. Far more than a rescue program, Shy Wolf Sanctuary has been offering educational programs and therapeutic animal encounters for more than twenty years. Educational programs range from peaceful coexistence with wildlife to advocating for animals that can't speak for themselves. Additionally, Shy Wolf partners with area nonprofit organizations to provide hope and healing to at-risk youth through our Healing Hearts program. Contact Jade Jackson for more information. Neighbors Helping Neighbors
"Neighbors Helping Neighbors" is a group of Vanderbilt volunteers who are available to help during a time of need. Volunteers offer assistance with transportation to appointments, delivering meals when a member s incapacitated, shopping for needed items for a shut-in, pet walking, providing a friendly visit, and more. We are a volunteer group of members whose purpose is to provide assurance, comfort, and support to the residents of Vanderbilt Country Club. If available, "Neighbors Helping Neighbors" also assists with loaning members medical supplies/equipment (i.e., crutches, canes, wheelchairs, shower seats) or baby/toddler items (i.e., booster seats, highchairs, porta cribs, car seats.)
